I’ve always believed that art should be lived in—not just looked at. As a lifelong artist and the founder of Designs by Sherilyne, my journey has been shaped by curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms. Long before I launched this brand, I was immersed in the creative process—experimenting, evolving, and building a visual language uniquely my own.

Designing is more than a profession; it’s personal. Each collection reflects the values that matter most to me: authenticity, intention, and fearless self-expression. I’m passionate about creating pieces that don’t just make a statement – they tell a story. And I’m honored to share that story with you through every thread, color, and form.

From Board Room to Art Studio

After 20+ years as a CEO of DC based consulting firm, I followed my heart back to art. What began as a love of painting, fused glass, and photography has evolved into Designs by Sherilyne — a wearable art fashion brand that transforms my original photographs into elegant, comfortable pieces designed for real women.

Travel has always been my muse.

I’ve explored the world—from the tulip fields of Amsterdam to the shores of the Chesapeake Bay—and everywhere I go, I see color, light, and texture that inspire new designs. Each collection begins with a photograph from my travels, or a photograph of one of my paintings or a piece of my fused glass artwork. I reimagine these images through color, movement, and form until they come alive on fabric.

Designs by Sherilyne is the culmination of my life’s journey — creativity, craftsmanship, and confidence woven together to create art you can wear.

A Lifelong Love of Design

Creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My grandmother taught me to sew, and as a young girl, my Barbie dolls had a wardrobe that was the envy of every girl on the block. By high school, I was designing and sewing my own clothes — even my prom dress — and working with my mother’s dressmaker to create special holiday outfits.

Those early experiences taught me the joy of craftsmanship and self-expression — lessons that would one day return as the foundation for Designs by Sherilyne.

The Art-to-Fashion Journey

My creative path has always been eclectic — painting, fused glass,
photography, jewelry, and ceramics. Even while leading a successful consulting firm, art was my constant companion. The idea for Designs by Sherilyne came to me during a river cruise up the Rhine, watching the countryside pass by. I wondered: What if I could turn my art into clothing — wearable pieces of beauty and story?

That spark became a mission. Today, every Designs by Sherilyne piece begins as original art — a reflection of travel, color, and life — transformed into sophisticated, sustainable fashion for women who love both beauty and comfort.

The Creative Process

Each design starts with inspiration — an image that captures movement, light, or emotion. I edit and reimagine that image digitally, refining the interplay of tone and color until it’s ready to print on fabric. Working with a North American partner, I test every print to ensure it reflects the depth and integrity of the original art.

Every piece is made-to-order using vegan, eco-conscious inks and sustainable fabrics that are soft, wrinkle-resistant, and travel beautifully. Inclusive sizing (XS–3X) ensures every woman can find something that fits perfectly and feels effortless.

Inspired by the World

Travel fuels my imagination. I find design inspiration in the light of Provence, the patterns of Portugal’s cobblestones, and the shimmer of the Chesapeake Bay. My collections capture those moments — transforming photographs into textile prints that tell a story of art, adventure, and emotion.
